Prof. Dr. Recep Efe, PhD.
He was born in Gönen-Balikesir, Turkey. He graduated from the University
of Istanbul with a
Bachelor’s degree in Geography in 1981. He earned a Master’s degree in
Geomorphology from Istanbul University. He obtained his PhD. in
geography from Istanbul University in 1991. He received his 2nd
Bachelor’s degree in English (TESL) from Istanbul University in 1990. He
has been to UK for postdoctoral studies.
He began his teaching career at the high school level and taught 2 years
in Istanbul. Dr. Efe joined the faculty at Marmara University in 1994
and served as assistant prof. for two years. She was promoted to
Associate Professor of Geography in 1997.
He
founded the first fully equipped GIS (Geographical Information Science)
and Physical geography laboratories in Turkey and developed GIS courses
for under/graduate students in the Geography department in 1996. He
moved to Balikesir University, Geography
Department in 2004. He was promoted to full professor of Geography in
2005.
His research interests span
a wide
range of
topics in geography and related fields.
His
research interests involve ecology, ecosystem analysis, geomorphology,
vegetation, biogeography, land degradation, land use, ecotourism,
natural environment and human interactions, cultural geography and
geography education.
He has published a wide
range of books and
articles on his research interests. |
