Current Research
We have been working to introduce Langmuir-Blodgett
(LB) films to Turkish Researchers since 1994. We set up the first Turkish
Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) Thin Film Research Laboratory in 1998 with a strong
collaboration between Balıkesir, Sheffield University (Senior Lecturer T. H.
Richardson) and Turkish Research Council (TUBITAK). Balıkesir University has
some facilities like computer
controlled NIMA 622 type alternate layer LB film system, pure
water system, a single compartment Langmuir trough (this trough is the first
Turkish designed LB trough with a Turkish software and is fully developed in
our group except mechanical part). For the characterisation of LB films, we
have UV-visible, FTIR and QCM measurement systems. We are having some
collaboration with other Universities for doing other characterisations such as
SPR, AFM and electrical measurements. We are hoping to expand our facilities
and collaborations.
