Some of the definitions about legged robots
Legged robot Robots that do not use wheels or tracked carriage. They are inspired from biological creatures in Nature.
Biped Robot Name given to two legged robots. If a biped robot resembles to humans, then it is called an Anthropomorphic biped robot. For example, a chicken is a biped but not Anthropomorphic.
Biped Robot Gonzalez Biped robot gonzalez. Built at Salford University by me and my supervisor G.A. Medrano-Cerda It can walk forwards backwards, sideways and climb up and down 5cm hing steps. Its estimated cost of construction is "30 000 $".
Hexapod Robot Hector Hexapod robot Hector. Built by Mr Downes at the University of Salford. Six legs are built up from three pairs and can be removed in pairs.
P3 Honda Humanoid Robot Honda Humanoid Robot sponsored by Honda motor company. The research was started in 1986. Since then they produced several prototypes namely P1, P2 and P3. On the left is P3. P3 can walk forwards backwards, sideways and climb up and down human-size steps. Estimated cost of contruction is "100 000 000 $".
